PARENTING SUPPORT GROUP
Becoming the parent your kid needs. Not the one you wanted.
Becoming the Parent Your Kid Needs is a virtual support group for parents who are ready to stop parenting on autopilot. This is for parents who are tired of reacting the way they were reacted to. Tired of parenting from guilt, fear, and control. Ready to raise emotionally healthy children on purpose.
Virtual · Open to parents across Texas · Launching in September
You’re doing your best and it still feels not enough.
You are intentional. You are reading the books. Listening to podcasts. You know your child needs regulation, not just correction. And still, when the moment gets hard, you hear a voice come out of your mouth that sounds like the one you swore you would never repeat. Then you spend the rest of the day in guilt about it.
You lose it with your kid and then spiral in guilt afterward
You want to break the cycle, but you were never shown how
You are parenting from exhaustion, not from intention
You know what you do not want to do, but you have no idea what to do instead
You feel the gap between the parent you want to be and the parent you were raised by
You are holding everything together, and you can feel what it is costing you
This is a guided parenting support group. Not a parenting class. Not group therapy. It is where thoughtful parents do the real work. Healing themselves so their children do not have to carry what they carried.
This is where you learn to parent your kid without becoming the parent you needed.
WHO THIS GROUP IS FOR
For parents who are ready to stop repeating and start choosing.
01 The parent who reacts and then regrets
You hold it together all day at work. You come home and your kid asks the same question three times, back-to-back-to-back, and something in you snaps. Then you spend the rest of the night trying to make it up to them.
02 The parent breaking generational cycles
You were raised in a home where love and control were the same thing. Compliance equaled acceptance. You are trying to give your child something different. You just do not know how.
03 The parent of a Black or Brown child
You are raising a child in a world that will not always be gentle or kind with them. You want them to be strong without being hardened. Confident without fear of making mistakes. You want them to trust you enough to come to you when the world is loud.
04 The parent whose faith has been used to control them
You were raised on scripture that ended arguments instead of creating conversation. You want your child to know God and love you. You are still figuring out what that looks like.
05 The parent who has no one to talk to about this
You are having to parent a child who has 2 households. Your family tells you to spank them. Your friends tell you to use timeouts. You need a room full of parents who are asking the same questions you are, without having to justify why you are asking.
Breaking the cycle is not weakness. It is knowing what you inherited, and choosing what to pass down.
WHY THIS GROUP IS DIFFERENT
A support group led by a licensed therapist. Real parenting transformation.
-
Therapist-Led
Every session is guided by Ra’Shunda Adams, LMFT-Associate. You are learning from someone who understands how your childhood is showing up in your parenting right now, and knows how to help you change it.
-
Real-Time Application
Each session gives you a specific tool you can use with your child that same week. You will not leave with theory. You will leave with something to try immediately after each session.
-
Deep Cycle-Breaking
This goes beyond behavior charts and consequences. You will connect your own healing to the way you parent, so the change actually holds when the moment gets hard.

This is not group therapy. It is a parenting support group led by a licensed therapist. You do not need to be in individual therapy to join, though many participants are. If you are navigating something that needs clinical support beyond what a group can offer, we will talk about that honestly on the intake call.
-
Yes. Individual therapy helps you do your personal work. This group is specifically about how that work shows up in your parenting. Many parents find the two go deeper together than either does alone.
-
Yes to both. The patterns this group addresses sit in you, not in your child's age. The tools adjust to whatever stage of parenting you are in. The intake call is a good place to talk through your specific situation.
-
No. Faith is welcome in this space and will be integrated when you want it. It will not be assumed and it will not be forced. If your faith is central to your parenting, there is room for that here. If it is not, this space is still yours.
-
Sessions are live and not recorded, to protect the confidentiality of the group. This group is designed for real-time reflection and connection with other parents is a core component to your parenting transformation. We ask for genuine commitment to show up.
-
You are still welcome. Most parents come to this group without their partner. T he work you do here shifts the family culture even when only one parent moves first.
-
Yes. Confidentiality is a core group agreement that every participant signs. What is shared in the group stays in the group.
-
You will hear from me within two business days to schedule a short intake call. On that call we will make sure the group is the right fit for what you are working on. If it is, you are in. If it is not, I will point you toward something that is.
Your kid does not need a perfect parent. They need one who is doing the work.
